"To coffee with you, dear woman! Know yourself, Discover yourself, Act!", is the title of the community action held on Sunday, 26 November 2023, by the group of women leaders from the Centre area: Tonu Margarita, Platon Alexandra, Beșliu Raisa, Lucinschi Mariana, Scutelnic Oxana.

The event is part of the project "Today's women leaders - tomorrow's peace" and was hosted by Ialoveni District Council.

The workshop was attended by 55 women, including 27 refugee women and 28 women from the host community (social protection specialists, business women, women from low-income families).

The Workshop agenda included: informative sessions, practical exercises and a creative candle making workshop.

Angela Sincovici, a psychologist by profession, has succeeded in providing every woman with the resources she needs to discover her potential and achieve her personal aspirations. Through the presentation and practical exercises, the participants acquired essential skills to manage stressful situations individually, to monitor their moods in difficult communication with children, and last but not least, they were supported to understand that every woman has a potential worthy of being fulfilled.

Cristina Schimbov, the first female police officer in Moldova, president of the Association of Police Women, who graduated 5 years ago from the leadership program of the FBI National Academy in the United States of America, presented herself with encouragement towards concrete actions and a true example of motivation.

In the final part of the session, all participants gained knowledge about creating handmade candles: selecting the right materials and tools, going through the casting process and how to decorate them.

Under the careful guidance of Magdalene Ciobanu, the candle-making workshop not only gave women the skills to create their own luminous works of art, but also provided them with the freedom to express their creativity. This experience was not only an opportunity to socialise, but also a guide to starting an activity that could provide them with an additional income.

At the same time, during the workshop, participants were informed about the digital platform www.avahelp.md where relevant and useful information can be recorded and accessed, presented in an accessible language, covering a wide range of important aspects:

  • Legality of stay
  • Health
  • Education of children
  • Social assistance
  • Legal assistance
  • Economic empowerment
  • Professional development courses
  • Job opportunities
  • Business development

Through this initiative, women leaders have united in the National Campaign "16 Days of Activism against Gender Violence". Their aim is to send a strong "No" to all forms of violence and to become spokespersons in society for this cause.

The project is implemented by A.O ,,Help" from the Republic of Moldova in partnership with the Association Inovatrium from Romania, with the support of UN Women Moldova, and funded by the Women's Fund for Peace and Humanitarian Assistance. Women’s Peace & Humanitarian Fund
