The National Health Insurance Company announced on 3 April 2024 that a number of changes to the legislation were approved at a government meeting, with the aim of maintaining the medical insurance status of employed temporary protection beneficiaries after the end of the state of emergency.
Thus, employed beneficiaries of temporary protection will have the same rights and obligations in the compulsory health insurance system as Moldovan citizens. The status of insured person will be granted/suspended on the basis of the information on employment relationships for the determination of social and medical rights submitted by employers to the State Tax Service.
Previously, refugees from Ukraine, beneficiaries of temporary protection, working in Moldova were insured by derogation from the legislation, based on the decision of the Commission for Exceptional Situations.
The above amendments are to be adopted by Parliament and will enter into force upon publication in the Official Gazette.
