All Ukrainian refugee children in Moldova have access to free health care, regardless of whether they have temporary protection status or not, the Moldovan government announced in a statement. The decision was taken by the Commission for Exceptional Situations, and it was implemented by the National Health Insurance Company.
Thus, medical institutions included in the compulsory insurance systems are obliged to provide free emergency care, primary health care, and medical examinations, depending on the situation. This measure supports children affected by the conflict in Ukraine, giving them free access to essential medical services.
The Ministry of Education of the Republic of Moldova reported that at the beginning of September 2023, about 20,000 preschool and school-age refugee children from Ukraine were in our country.
