Community activity dedicated to Ukrainian Easter traditions

Community activity dedicated to Ukrainian Easter traditions

On 18 March, as part of the project "Women Leaders Today, Peace Tomorrow", under the guidance of Yulia Kirtoka, psychologist and art psychotherapist, and participant of the leadership course, a community activity dedicated to inlays was organized. This beautiful tradition comes from Ukraine and is called ,,Pisanki Sacrale". This community action had a cultural character, facilitating the exchange of cultural experiences between the refugee women and those from the host community.

Pisanki or traditionally decorated eggs have been explored as a means of expression and spiritual connection. They are not just for Easter, but can be created all year round to solve problems, bring protection and harmony to life. In addition to its cultural and therapeutic aspect, Sacred Pisanka is loaded with deep symbolism. Every aspect of an egg has a special meaning:

Colours: Each colour used has a special meaning. For example, white can symbolise purity and new beginnings, red can represent love and passion, and green can be associated with fertility and regeneration.

Materials: In the authentic tradition, pisankile are created using natural paints and beeswax. These materials have their own meanings, bringing a natural and pure energy to the creation process.

Models and symbols: Each pattern and symbol drawn on the catkin has a distinct meaning. For example, spirals can symbolize the cycles of life, and crosses can represent protection and spirituality.

As each participant creates their own pisanga, it becomes a personal reflection of their intentions, desires and beliefs. In this way, the creative process becomes a form of deep spiritual expression and connection, offering a unique way to communicate with Higher Forces and bring harmony and power into life.

The project is implemented by A.O ,,Help" from the Republic of Moldova in partnership with the Association Inovatrium from Romania, with the support of UN Women Moldova and financed by Women’s Peace & Humanitarian Fund.
